Based in Galicia, in the Celtic north-west of Spain since August 1991, I work as a part-time English teacher and also as a travel writer, publishing numerous articles in Living Spain Magazine, the UK’s leading publication on Spain. In 2007 I took the oath as a Cabaleiro do Albariño (Knight of Albariño) in recognition for my work in the promotion and consolidation of Cambados, the ‘Cradle of Albariño Wine’, as an international tourist destination. In June 2012 I took the oath as Valedor do Viño Tinto do Val do Salnés (Defender of the Red Wine of the Salnés Valley) in recognition for my role in the defence and promotion of one of Galicia’s most traditional wines. Last year I launched a wine tourism company, North West Iberia Wine Tours SL based in the city of La Coruña. We specialise in custom, off the beaten track gastronomic experiences for the adventurous foodie and wine lover, usually in groups of no more than twelve people. We cover all the wine appellations in Galicia, D.O. Bierzo, Vinos de Calidad de Cangas (Asturias) and the Portuguese Alvarinho strongholds of Melgaço and Monçao.
